This post originally appeared on March 15, 2012. The home page image, which was added, is by FrelSareN. It looks like a Howlin’ Wolf concert was a pretty intense experience. Here are a couple of biographies. Discographies are here and here. An interesting look at bands and artists who covered him — and songs he did by others — is available at The Covers Project. The latter includes Sitting on Top of the World, which Wikipedia credits to Walter Vinson and Lonnie Chatmon of the Mississippi Sheiks. Its version is great. Here are “Smokestack Lighting” and “Spoonful,” the other most well known Howlin’ Wolf songs.
