New Music: University of Massachusetts Dartmouth

Last month, I posted a query asking for new music at ProfNet, a site that links editors/reporters with sources. I intend to post everything that was sent my way.

One response was a set of fusion clips from senior recitals at The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth senior recitals. Above is “Two Late,” which was written by guitarist Tony Menotti. Other players are Miles Flisher (piano), Evan MacLeod (bass), Al Nawrocki (drums) and Van Riley (sax)

Below is “Tomahawk,” which I believe was written by bassist Christian Spach. It features Spach, Menotti and drummer Tobias Ellis.

Reading Music

The stories of the great bands and musicians are fascinating. Musicians as a group are brilliant, but often troubled. The combination of creativity and drama makes for great reading.

Here are some books to check out.

The Grateful Dead don't get enough credit for the profound nature of its lyrics.
