On this day in 1997, Chet Atkins Day was held in Nashville, according to Country Music Television. The site says that performers included Steve Wariner, Mark Knopfler, Marty Stuart and Bobby Bare. In all, more than 70 musicians performed at the Ryman Auditorium.
