There is a very nice piece in The Washington Post about The Newport Folk Festival, which starts runs from July 28 to the 29th at Rhode Island’s Fort Adams State Park. The upshot of the story is that the venerable festival attracts both old and new acts:
Some 10,000 attendees are expected each day for performances by Guthrie, My Morning Jacket, the Preservation Hall Jazz Band, Jackson Browne, Patty Griffin and more than 40 other bands. Tickets remain available for a kick-off concert on Friday headlined by Wilco.
The Newport Jazz Festival isn’t far behind: It’s slated for August 3,4 and 5 at the park.
