Strategy Analytics’ Global Recorded Music Forecast says that streaming music revenue will outstrip downloaded music revenues by almost a factor of five this year.
The study says that online streaming revenues will increase by 40 percent this year and reach $1.1 billion. Download revenue will increase 8.5 percent and reach $3.9 billion. The increase in revenue from streaming, the report said, will be $311 million, with download revenue generate $8 million more.
