New Music

YOVANNI

Editor’s Note: The folks at Go-DIY Records were kind enough to post a note that TDMB welcomed new music. Several bands have sent me links and samples. My plan is to post the music in the order in which it came in and to present what the band (or its management) wrote — or as much of it as makes sense.

Next up is YOVANNI. Below is Hello followed by a profile of YOVANNI submitted by his management.

YOVANNI is a Miami-based dance music recording artist with a career that spans more than two decades in both Miami and New York City.

In the summer of 1997, YOVANNI followed his dream and moved to New York City to pursue his passion for music. After being fired from his job as a waiter, YOVANNI found himself penniless and on the brink of homelessness. Instead of returning home defeated, he began singing in the subway for spare change. The song “Lean On Me‟ by Bill Withers lifted YOVANNI out of the subway and into backup vocal gigs for recording artists such as Nia Mone’t, TNP and other New York bands.

Taking the song that sustained him underground to a big audition in Harlem at the famous Apollo theater, YOVANNI belted out a heart-felt rendition of the classic song he‟d come to lean on and the audience responded with thunderous applause. It was this momentous appearance at “Showtime at the Apollo” that ignited YOVANNI’s musical
career.

In 2009 the pop-rock singer teamed up with the U.S. label Trigga Entertainment owned by DJ Nelson “Trigga” Martinez to produce a powerful mix of pop, house and dance electronic music. “In today‟s world of entertainment, anybody can claim to be a musician, record a song, make a music video and place it online,” says Nelson “Trigga” Martinez.“What really separates the “anybodies‟ from the “somebody special‟ is the integrity and passion of the artist,” Martinez adds.

In 2011 YOVANNI and Trigga Entertainment teamed up with De Water Music & Media from the Netherlands. YOVANNI’s second single ‘Hello’ was produced by international DJ/Producer Eddie Middle-Line. “Hello” has been charted on several DJ music charts and landed a spot for 3 weeks at #37 on the dance chart of the international magazine DJ Times. The ‘Hello’ single was also picked up by Dutch Record Label Cloud 9 and German record label Toka Beatz.

After two very successful appearances at the ADE – Amsterdam Dance Event in the Netherlands,”Hello” and its club remixes are now featured on several compilation releases across Europe and has gained YOVANNI a cult status among club goers worldwide. The music video for “Hello‟ is currently on rotation at clubs and retail stores around the world and is currently airing on several music channels including Viacom MTV networks.

YOVANNI is scheduled to perform at Pride Fest in Ft Lauderdale, Fl for the 2nd year in a row in front of thousands and set to perform at the Pride Festival in South Beach in April. He is also scheduled to perform for the 2nd year in a row at the Winter Music Conference sponsored by AddictedtoRadio.com, a radio station from Chicago.

Kings of Spins, a popular record pool internationally supplying over 250 DJs worldwide has been drawing positive feedback with an 8 out of 10 score with his song, “Milky Way”. His third release, “I Want You is set to release the end of this month remixed by the popular brother duo, “the Klubjumpers” who has produced and remixed songs for Britney Spears and Gloria Estefan to name a few. His latest tracks can be heard on soundcloud: https://soundcloud.com/trigga-entertainment and downloaded on I-Tunes, Amazon and Napster, just a few of the digital outlets online for purchase.

YOVANNI is a powerful vocalist who can sing a song and kill it on stage and a passionate artist full of light and energy. Unparalleled talent paired with authentic passion and drive will ensure that YOVANNI will CLAIM SUCCESS for many years to come.

Reading Music

The stories of the great bands and musicians are fascinating. Musicians as a group are brilliant, but often troubled. The combination of creativity and drama makes for great reading.

Here are some books to check out.

Duke Ellington brought class, sophistication and style to jazz which, until that point, was proudly unpolished and raucous. His story is profound. The author, Terry Teachout, also wrote "Pops," the acclaimed bio of Louis Armstrong. Click here or on the image.

The Grateful Dead don't get enough credit for the profound nature of its lyrics. Many of the band's songs are driven by a deep and literate Americana ("I'm Uncle Sam/That's who I am/Been hidin' out/In a rock and roll band" and "Majordomo Billy Bojangles/Sit down and have a drink with me/What's this about Alabama/Keeps comin' back to me?").

David Dodd's exhaustive study tells the story, song by song. Click here or on the image.
