Henry Mancini, who wrote a lot of the background music of our lives, would have been ninety years old today. He died in 1994.
The Henry Mancini website is pretty cool. TDMB has posted on him directly and through two great guitarists — Roy Buchanan and Freddie King. Buchanan plays all of “Peter Gunn,” while King samples it toward the end of “Hideaway.” Andy Williams, with Mancini at the piano, performs “Moon River”. The same song is above.
