Here’s a nice song about uselessness and the end of everything. This is what David Byrne had to say about “Road to No Where” as quoted at Wikipedia:
I wanted to write a song that presented a resigned, even joyful look at doom,” recalls David Byrne in the liner notes of Once in a Lifetime: The Best of Talking Heads. “At our deaths and at the apocalypse… (always looming, folks). I think it succeeded.
Byrne plays it down, but there is some fairly heavy religious overtones at the beginning of the song. It’s typical Talking Heads which means, of course, that it’s smart, sophisticated and a bit demanding and great musically.
