The nominees for the 29th class of The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame were released today.
More than 600 voters will select the inductees, who will enshrined at an April event in New York City. The candidates: The Paul Butterfield Blues Band, Chic, Deep Purple, Peter Gabriel, Hall and Oates, KISS, LL Cool J, The Meters, Nirvana, N.W.A., The Replacements, Linda Ronstadt, Cat Stevens, Link Wray, Yes and The Zombies.
Above is NWA’s “Express Yourself.” Below is Link Wray’s “Rumble,” which was used in, of all things, the Jerry Lewis movie “The Delicate Delinquent.” The scene looks like it was exactly what the world needed: Jerry Lewis’ take on “West Side Story.”
